I get so many inquiries this time of year about family photos and for good reason! Fall is a great time for photos – the weather is cool and foliage is rich and colorful. It is also a prime time to document our families as the new school year starts. Annnnnnd  of course a perfect time to get new photos for our Christmas cards. Which by the way, I for one and here for.

So, as I’ve been thinking about family photos lately, I’ve decided to create a few blog posts that will hopefully be helpful now and in the future as so many of you are planning your family photos. I often get questions about what time of day is best for photos, what locations make the best photos, what the difference is between a mini session or a full portrait session, what clothes to wear and what should you bring. I’m hoping to answer many of these questions and and more over the next few weeks. So stay tuned, but in the meantime, I have a short client review I wanted to share…

A while back, I reached out to a few clients that are faithful to book sessions every year. I wanted to know why they keep coming back and booking mini sessions, sometimes multiple times a year.

Here is Megan and her sweet (growing) family. I actually shot their wedding back in 2014!  Holli has shot newborns for them as well, but I’m so grateful to get to see them every spring and fall! Here is what she had to say about mini sessions and why she keeps coming back to us for family photos:

“I make family photos a priority every year because I love being able to see how much my little family has changed and grown throughout the years.  I remember when I found out that I was pregnant with Cooper (my oldest)  I couldn’t wait till we had our first family session and was able to make it into a Christmas card for all of our friends and family. 

We absolutely LOVE the mini sessions (especially Trevor)!  I think they are the perfect solution time wise for families, especially those with little ones or husbands who hates pictures :).  Not to mention, you always have the best outdoor locations to make the photos look beautiful.  

I continue to choose you as our family photographer for so many reasons.  First of all, we absolutely adore you!  You have a way to make everyone feel comfortable and beautiful in their own skin.  You captured one of the most important days of my life, my wedding. I absolutely love my photos and how you captured the sweetest moments.  I remember my wedding party telling me how much they loved you an your sweet personality.  You also have a special way with little ones.  You always capture the perfect shot/shots, even when my little ones are not interested.  The Conklin Family absolutely loves you!”
