Aaron and Kimberley were married in November on the windiest day of the year. But seriously. THE WINDIEST. Oklahoma is known for its wind blown days but their wedding day was something else! Kimberley wanted to do all of their photos at the Myriad Gardens- even with the wind. I was so proud of her because the fall colors were beautiful! I will say there were a few images that their hair was blowing but for the most part you cannot even tell! There were a few times it felt like it was knocking me over to just be standing there. Aaron and Kimberley your day was perfect!
Anyway, it was great to work with Amanda Sikich and her team for the first time. They had every little detail planned perfectly (hence the name Planned 2 Perfection…) and it was an honor to work with them to make Kimberley and Aarons wedding day go perfectly! We have photographed weddings at the Oklahoma History Center many times before but we loved the unique way they had set up the tables in the reception with one large rectangle table.

Monica and Marshall got married just a couple weekends ago on a ranch in Decatur, Texas. The weather was absolutely beautiful and there was even a perfect little breeze. Decatur is not far from Denton or Fort Worth and the drive is absolutely gorgeous. As we drove out to the ranch, there were wood painted signs marking the way for us. Monica put so much thought into all of the little details and it made everything come together just splendidly. Her and her mom even purchased 200+ plates from antique stores to use for the dinnerware. It was such a wonderful eclectic touch. From the chalkboard signs, to the burlap silverware holders, candy buffet and even personalized bridesmaid hangers, this wedding was perfect.

Clarke and Allison were married LAST WEEKEND ( I am bragging on myself for getting their blog post up so quickly :) ) They had a beautiful wedding at Gaillardia and Crossing Community Church in Oklahoma City. She chose a lot of our favorite vendors and her wedding was awesome!
A lot of brides are nervous that the “first meet” will not be as special as seeing each other at the altar. I have SO many photos to disprove this theory and the images of Clarkes face seeing her both times are no exception. Clarke teared up when he saw Allison at their first meet and he teared up again on the altar when she walked down the aisle! Seeing your grooms face tear up at the sight of you not only once, but twice?!? Nothing can beat that, right friends?
Clarke and Allison, I hope you are home from your honeymoon and enjoying every ounce of newlywedness! Your wedding was breathtaking!

It is wedding wednesday again folks…
Kyle and Sarah were married in February and wanted to have a winter wedding. We loved the winter ideas she incorporated to make her wedding unique such as the hot chocolate bar and the cute fur jacket! Winter weddings bring a couple of different obstacles, the biggest being that it gets dark by 4:30, but Kyle and Sarah thought of everything! Kyle is an optometrist so he literally made himself blind by wearing contacts. Did you read that right? Made.himself.blind. I had no idea they were doing this but after I thought about it – I was impressed by his dedication ;) Sarah REALLY wanted to meet before the ceremony and have natural light for all of their portraits and Kyle didnt want to see her before the ceremony. SO they compromised by meeting before the ceremony but wearing contacts so that he couldnt actually “see” her. It made me laugh when they told me their plan but I appreciated their dedication to wanting great portraits! It was definitely one for the books!

Good morning friends! I have a lovely “after” session for you today! Unfortunately, Elizabeth didnt choose to have an “after” session it just sort of- well- happened. She had a wedding dress mishap. Her dress was ruined in alterations and she had to buy another dress weeks before her ceremony. We had a bridal session on the schedule but we had to reschedule because of her dress situation. I will say, I LOVED the new dress… so she did find something that was so perfectly her.
It got us thinking that it would be a great idea for more couples to do “after” sessions instead of their bridal sessions. Now dont get me wrong… we LOVE bridal sessions, in fact, it could be one of my favorite sessions to shoot. But how fun is it to be able to go to cool locations with cool light WITH your new spouse for really awesome photos? You arent on a time crunch, worried about the bottom of your dress getting dirty, limited to the ceremony locations, or stressed out from it being your wedding day! We think it is such a good idea ESPECIALLY for clients who choose not to meet before the ceremony. This past year only 4 of my wedding couples chose not to meet before the ceremony. We are glad that it is gaining in popularity because we believe it makes your images dramatically better (but… we still value your decision and let our clients choose for themselves) Ultimately, we just want your couples photos to be AMAZING ;) Just some thoughts for your morning!
Elizabeth let me choose the locations (you have seen them time and again) but they are my favorites. It cannot be overstated- my undying love for fields with beautiful light! The first image here is out of focus- but something about it- is just perfect.
