Justen + Sara {WEDDINGS} Destination Wedding Cabo Hacienda Del Mar

Okay, so I am FINALLY blogging Justen and Sara’s destination wedding in CABO! Thanks for being incredibly patient! We cannot express in words what a blessing it was for us to meet this couple, their families, their friends and this entire wedding party. We cannot believe we got paid to travel and do this wedding. We had SO much fun at one point I asked Jace to pinch me! It was ABSOLUTELY perfect in every way. The places, the people, the logistics, the details EVERYTHING was perfect. Here are a few of my faves!

About 20 or so of us flew down together on the same plane. I love how having photographs of all of the things that took place tell the story of their wedding day!

going over the ocean!

After we had been in Cabo for a few hours they had a welcome party for all of their guests. We sat by the beach and hung out and it was so fun to get to meet every one for the first time. Justen and Sara handed out these super fun little “welcome ice chests” filled with all sorts of goodies

The next day the festivities began with surfing. Jace and I didnt actually surf… we are chickens, I know…. but we did catch a few fun ones of other people surfing….

brotherly love…

Later that night we had the rehearsal dinner on the beach and a nice dinner at El Gril in San Jose (a surrounding town of CABO) Sara’s parents spend quite a bit of time in Cabo and have made lots of friends. The owner of this restaurant was a good friend of theirs.

the minister looked and talked EXACTLY like Christopher Walken… he made us laugh so much!

We were SO impressed with the food the entire trip. Everything was so fresh. I will be able to think of this plate of guacamole as one of the happiest times of my life!

Sara and her dad have such a sweet relationship. He got teary eyed several times during the weekend… it was so sweet!

Sara and Justen rode with us in our rental car many times over the course of three days that we were together. They could have rode with some of their family or friends but they chose to ride with us. We had SO SO SO much fun getting to know them during these car rides. We had some of the best conversations to and from the city of San Jose. We really got to know them during this time and Jace and I agreed that these car rides were our FAVORITE parts of the whole entire trip (and there were some pretty incredible moments of our trip!) I will never forget the late ride home after the rehearsal dinner when Sara and Justen told us about their first kiss- I thought I was going to pee in my pants I was laughing so hard! We got to witness the giving back of the ring….and we snuck a pic from our room of their last kiss as an engaged couple!

We were actually only supposed to photograph for a couple of hours on the wedding day but we just wanted to spend more time with everyone so we hung out with them from the time they woke up until late that night after the wedding. I got to have an extraordinary breakfast at a local french bakery that made EVERYTHING from scratch and chill by the pool with the girls and Jace swam and played cards with the boys. We literally felt like we had known this couple for years!

EVERY bride should get to run in the ocean before her big day!

Vera always gets it right…

ummm…… you girls are HOT! and totally rocked EVERY pose!

Justen you and the boys are pretty hot yourself!

so were you sweet little Cole!

The wedding scenery was breathtaking. The colors, setting, feel, look ….ALL of it were amazing.

i love getting mom shots of when her daughter is walking down the aisle!

Justens brother Jake pulled out a ring pop, which was funny, but the funniest part was the minister, Christopher Walken took the ring pop and kept going with the ceremony without breaking a smile or making a joke!

love the wide shot my husband got of the whole place

hey its like where is Waldo but it is where is HolliB?

post ceremony photos…

I cannot say enough nice things about these two families! I could not have hand picked two better families to spend our time in CABO with. They were completely overwhelming in generosity towards us. We truly felt like part of their families for the entire part of the trip. We love you guys!

the reception looked amazing…

Jaces view… and then my view…

Just so you know… I will cry just like this when Jax gets married….

I really wanted to get this shot at some point during the reception… we were super glad all of the guests thought it was a good idea too because I love how it turned out. These were all of Justen and Sara’s wedding guests, family, and wedding party here

it was incredibly hot at the reception, at some point I think most everyone went and changed.. this photo just shows how hot it really was!
Later into the evening random guests would show up and dance with everyone… it was fun to edit these because I could find people who had no association to the wedding at all and they were dancing. I loved it! Here is Sara dancing with a random boy who showed up and danced with his mom!

When Sara and I met a year or so ago at our consultation we talked about doing a “day after” shoot in the city with cool old churches and mexican awesomeness. There were TONS of places to shoot and really a photographers dream to do in this location with this hot couple!

Jaces view…

my view…

I LOVE these photos… there are SO many from our day after shoot that I absolutely adore.

hello cool old mexican church!

hello cool old ice cream truck in front of old mexican church!

I love the ice cream/church photos so much because they are SO Justen and Sara…

The last part of the evening Sara wanted to take Jace and I to eat a hot dog. She had been telling me about these hot dogs the entire trip. They arent just any hotdogs…. they are from little stands along the highways and they only come out at night after 9:30pm! This was so weird to me! Not only are they midnight stands selling meat, they are wrapped in bacon, with lettuce, fresh tomatoes, mayonnaise, ketchup and peppers on them. NOTHING about this hot dog stand is appealing to me. NOTHING…. however she was right…. it was quite tasty! What I love most about this is Sara was still rocking her HOT Vera Wang dress eating a hotdog, at 10pm in Mexico. It does not get any better than this folks!
After our hotdog date we were sad to say our goodbyes. My husband Jace and Justen were practically separated at birth and Sara and I were quick BFF’s :) We ended up taking Justen and Sara to the resort where they were staying for the rest of their honeymoon and they invited us up to their INCREDIBLE room at the RUI resort. We ended up snorkeling with Justens family the next day and having dinner with them the next two nights in a row. We just adore all of them.

Justen and Sara, we are so thankful for the awesome friends you both have become! We cannot wait to hang out with you again. We love you guys so much!
