Adrian + Katharine {engaged}

Is it wrong to end an engagement session and want to be BFF with the couple afterwards? I met Adrian and Katherine for a sunrise session a few weeks ago and it was so dark when we met we actually had to wait on the sun to finally come up. It was great to have breakfast together while we waited. I got to see them in action and get to know them a bit better before our engagement session. They are SO funny. I pretty much laughed the entire morning. They live in Chicago and flew down to do some wedding planning for their fall 2011 wedding! Cant wait!

Brylee and Colton {PORTRAITS}

It’s a little late on Taylor Tuesday, but none-the-less it is still Tuesday and I have a few minutes to sneak this little post in, just in time. It feels like an online college class that I have to stay up late and sneak my assignment in before midnight, to ensure full credit!!!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing these cute kiddos. These siblings are so sweet to each other and very photogenic. Colton is 6 and Brylee is 7 months old. Colton was such a great older brother, takin’ care of sweet Brylee. I even found out that he helps dad out by mowing the yard! How great is that. I am not sure if I did any chores at 6 years old! I know that is a huge help to his parents.

Colton was such an extrovert! He was willing to do anything I asked him to do and was always smiling at the camera. He was super friendly and talkative for a six year old. There was nothing shy about him. Thanks for being such a good sport, Colton.

And Brylee, she was so content. She let me hold her right away and I am pretty sure she didn’t cry once; she seemed comfortable in every situation. She had the cutest little blue tutu on and she was totally an angel! Look at those bright blue eyes, I mean seriously – how perfect are they?

We couldn’t have asked for better weather for this shoot and we were free of mosquitoes, which is always a plus! Brylee and Colton, it was great to meet you guys and hang out – you two make awesome kid models!!

Selah Shore {BIRTH + NEWBORN}

This is what happens in the middle of busy wedding season… it takes you 3 months to introduce your newest little niece to the world! Robby and I (Sarah, incase you haven’t caught that I go with Robby :) ) are a proud aunt and uncle now to 3 sweet girls, Taylor, Liliwyn and Selah… Selah was born on May 16th, the day before our 2 year wedding anniversary, and I was lucky enough to get to meet her only hours after she was born, and stay long enough to do a few newborn photos. Since it has been so long coming, I decided just to combine the two, and introduce you to my whole side of our little family. My brother Adam, and his wife Juli and there little Lili, and newest little Selah…. I think Grandpa Jeff even made it (my newest apprentice :) )

McKennah {Portraits}

It’s Taylor again! Hope you are having a fabulous Tuesday, if not you will after you meet my friend McKennah!!!!

She just turned one!!! And she is such an active, exciting, happy little girl. Did I mention that she is walking all over the place. We spent the afternoon together and she always had a smile on her face and had the cutest little laugh. She is such a joy to be around!

I actually grew up with her parents and played high school basketball with her mom. Melanie is quite the baller! Her parents are super fun too and soooo good looking! They really are a sweet family and McKennah is very lucky to have such sweet parents. We have lots of funny memories from the high school years! I just love them!

But the best part about this shoot was the scorching heat and swarming mosquitoes! We were totally attacked when we walked down the path! But everyone was such a good sport! Thankfully McKennah did not get any mosquito bites!

Mel, Gavin and McKennah, thanks for letting me spend the afternoon with your family. You guys are so fun! Can’t wait to see you guys again.

Karsyn {BIRTH}

There have been times in my life where I have wanted to only shoot one thing (weddings) instead of taking on lots of different kinds of photography sessions. I believe there are pros and cons to both really. However, I do think that shooting all kinds of things keeps you on your toes and teaches you how to be prepared in all types of situational, lighting, photojournalistic, and relational ways possible. It also helps me with not getting burned out. EVERY job ( even a cool one like mine… ) when dealing with doing the same thing over and over and over and over- gets monotonous and you have to find ways to keep yourself inspired. I LOVE shooting births. There is just something so precious and real about being at the hospital documenting a families new journey. It touches me every single time. We are SO blessed to be able to witness and photograph one of the most intimate times in a couples lives.
Technically speaking shooting births is the hardest thing (in my opinion) to photograph. The lighting is most always terrible and dark, doctors and nurses turn on random lights at different times of the birth and you truly never know what kind of doctors and nurses you are going to get (and if they are happy about having a photographer in the room)…. All of these things aside, it is still amazing. It is hard- but it is fun. It is the most pure form of photojournalistic photography that we do. There is absolutely NO posing, talking, or messing up.
Meet Karsyn. She is a precious bundle of joy! She came into the world via C-section and we were not allowed in the delivery room this time (some hospitals/doctors allow it and others do not) I loved documenting the first time her mother met her, grandparents saw her, her first bath and lots of other firsts. Thank you Ellison family for inviting me to document your precious moment in time!

Beth + Jeff {WEDDING}

Beth and Jeff are a couple marked by joy… and after a few minutes with their wedding party it was obvious to Robby and I those are the kind of people attracted to them. We had so much fun with this group, and it was awesome getting to be with Beth and Jeff on their Big day! Could our job be any better?!

Michael + Heather {WEDDING}

Michael and Heather are such a neat couple… we have loved getting to know them over the past year! They truly love the Lord and every thing about their wedding reflected that. Here are the vendors that helped make their wedding perfect!

Taylor and I stopped at Pops on the way to Tres Suenos and brought the wedding party some fun cold drinks!

Michael and Heather had an awesome ceremony with praise and worship and a pastor that knew them both well.

little tip… when leaving your reception, walk a little slower! it is sometimes tricky to get the perfect settings when it is pitch dark and bubbles or sparklers are blowing and the couple runs down the aisle giving you 2 seconds to get a great shot of this moment. Heather and Michael took their time and talked to a few friends and family as they walked to their limo. ( we didnt tell them to do this but we thought it was a great idea afterwards!)
