We thought this NYE wedding we posted last January needed to be reposted! Enjoy!
Oh man, we have a treat for you on the blog today as it is FREEZING in Oklahoma but you get to view a Florida Keys destination wedding.
Meredith and Will had THE BEST idea to get married on New Years Eve in the keys with 105 of their closest friends and family. They had so many fun things planned throughout the weekend and it was an absolute joy for my hubby and I to get to participate in them!
The weekend started with a casual and laid back welcome party. They had food and drinks and everyone sat around to mingle on the patio while guests started to arrive the resort.
The next day started with a bridal brunch for the girls and a yacht fishing adventure with the guys. My husband got to go along for that and loved his life. The afternoon included a bride and groom dolphin excursion and I will say that this is the first time that I have photographed a bride and groom with a DOLPHIN. But SO fun! The rehearsal dinner was a sit down meal at Sunset Grill, a restaurant sitting on the water with adorable drinks in coconuts and a lot of happy people to chat with!
So it rained on the wedding day. As it so often does… and most of the images from the day were taken under the drizzling rain. I don’t think you can really tell in the images and I am SO glad that everyone was game with still doing the pictures outside rather than in hallways and rooms inside the resort. For the wedding party pictures I had scoped out a place I really wanted to do and ended up having to sit on my husbands shoulders to get the shot I had in my mind. I really hope someone got a picture of us.. he is standing in the pool and I am sitting on his shoulders photographing the wedding party. We make a good team ;) The sun peaked out at the end of the night and we just drove until we found the sunset. I love their bride and groom images at sunset.
We had a little break in the early evening before dinner and then the beautiful reception magic happened. Will and Meredith had an astronomy themed reception and all of her dreams came true with the stars, planets, and planet earth over the dance floor. It was just as she envisioned. The late night party ended with one of my favorite things from the entire fun filled weekend. Will had wanted to surprise Meredith by singing her a song on the guitar she bought him as his wedding gift. He sang her a song and played the guitar and then invited her to sing another song with him. SERIOUSLY, the cutest. I may have even got a little teary. They sang a cute song that they made up for their dogs called, Dirty Paws, and it was just the most adorable thing.
Meredith and Will, you guys are so so so awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed our time hanging out with your friends and family in the Florida Keys. Thank you for the fun and memories!
We also “might have” trespassed to find the sunset… ;) One of these days I will be in jail for the amount of trespassing I do.
