the sweetest proposal…

this will be long, bear with me. So you’ve seen Lindsey on my blog before (future sister-in-law, assistant, dollar wedding dress in the snow, petroleum engineer in real life…) Well she got engaged this weekend and I got to photograph it! It was literally one of the coolest moments in my life. Not only is photography my passion and I truly enjoy shooting just about anything, this was completely a surprise to her (that I have been lying about for several weeks) and I watched my little brother and best friend propose to the perfect girl in the world for him. It doesnt get much better than that! Here is the scoop with photos to follow…

So Lindsey thought she was going to be my assistant for a bridal shoot. She has worked with me several times before so this was nothing new to her. We were going to the original state capitol in Guthrie where I shoot most of my bridal sessions. I also told her that my videographer friend Sandi (www.capturethisproductions.com) was also going to shoot a demo of me working for my new website. So we all three drove up there on Friday afternoon. When we arrived Sandi told us she was going to go and set up all her equipment while I showed Lindsey around. We went in to several of the rooms and I “played” with my settings taking pics of Lindsey and stalling for time and also making it not look so weird in a minute when I would ask Linds to stand on the stage. After doing this in several rooms my bride (my brother) called and said he was ready. We went in to the theatre, it is a magnificent room, with swanky red curtains and balcony seating and I asked Linds to stand on the stage while I again “got my settings right”. As I was photographing her I said, “Say cheese” which was our GO words… and the lights went completely out. One second later Sandi who was hiding in the balcony with her cameras rolling hit the spotlights that were directed right at Lindsey and one second later Noah started their song very loud over the speaker system (Shes Got a Way by Billy Joel). She didnt know what was happening when it went dark, or when the spotlight hit her but when she heard the song she started to look around. Noah came out with four dozen daisies, a package, and a huge diamond ring. I was shaking I was so nervous for him, crying when she started to cry, and trying desperately to photograph the whole thing at the same time in the complete dark! Needless to say it all worked out perfectly and we have photos and video to show for it. I cannot wait to see the video Sandi creates! In the package was a dress from Saavy that Lindsey has been wanting but didnt want to spend on herself… so he bought it for her as well! SO… after it all worked out we took a handful of real engagement pics before they kicked us out for the day! In the new dress of course! I love you guys- welcome to the family Linds….
